The Tools menu is owned by the PASSPORT WEB TO HOST Administrator Program and has the following commands:
Tools>System Admin Information
The System Administrator of the PASSPORT WEB TO HOST software is typically
the person who installs the software on a web server and configures sessions.
This dialog box allows the system administrator information and
password information to be updated.
System
Administrator Information
When you first launch the PASSPORT Administrator configuration program,
you will be prompted to enter the following information about the
administrator: name, company, phone, email. The Support.htm file is
then modified in the ...\Eclient\ directory to reflect the support
contact information. This information is displayed whenever the Help>PASSPORT Help>Online
Support menu command in the Client is invoked or the support
icon is selected in the client software.
Change Password
To protect the configuration data, the System Administrator may select
a case-sensitive password of at least six characters or numbers. The
password can be changed or deleted by accessing Tools>System Admin Information.
Tools>Licensing
Information
Use this menu to manage the number of users logging on to mainframe sessions
using PASSPORT. This menu is also used to add new licenses when they are
purchased. The information on this dialog box will vary depending on the
type of license purchased, either Per-Seat
or Concurrent.
License
Count
The number of users that are licensed to run
the PASSPORT WEB TO HOST client at their workstation.
License
Code
The license code shipped with your software. To add more licenses to
this server installation, you can obtain a new code from your software
vendor and enter it here. Click OK for the new changes to take effect.
Metering
Timer Interval
This timing value is expressed in minutes and can range from 15 minutes
to 60 minutes. The default is 30 minutes. Each PASSPORT WEB TO HOST
client sends a request to the PASSPORT WEB TO HOST server component
at each metering timer interval. This request is made to ensure that
the client is licensed to use the software.
View
Licensed Users (Per-Seat licenses only)
This button displays a dialog box containing the list of users licensed
for PASSPORT WEB TO HOST. Each user is identified by the machine name
of the computer that downloaded the PASSPORT WEB TO HOST ActiveX component.
This dialog box allows you to add, rename or remove licensed users.
This is useful if a user gets a new PC with a different machine name,
or if a certain user is no longer employed.
Tools>Global
Settings
Use this menu command to configure global settings.
Path
to save local settings
The default path for local keyboard and attributes profiles is
My Documents\Zephyr\PASSPORT WEB TO HOST\ on
the client PC. However, the administrator can modify this path to
allow roaming users to save and access their keyboard and attribute
profiles locally. UNC naming conventions, such as \\server\share\,
are not allowed. However, environment variables may be used in the
path. For example, %USERPROFILE%\My Documents\Local Files will place the local keyboard and attribute
profiles in the Local Files folder
located in the current user's Documents and Settings folder.
Tools>Customize
Action Log
This option allows the administrator to create a log file to track all
of the changes made to the PASSPORT WEB TO HOST administrator program.
Furthermore, the administrator can also clear the log or change the size
of the log file here.
Enable Action Log
With this option enabled, all PASSPORT WEB TO HOST activity is logged
to the Default.log file located in the Logs
subfolder on the server.
Log
File Size (KB)
This enables the administrator to control the size of the log file.
The value entered here may range from 64 to 2048 kilobytes. When the
Default.log file reaches the specified file size, a backup file is
generated called _Default.log and the original log file is cleared.
If a _Default.log file already exists when the Default.log file reaches
the Log File Size, it will
be overwritten by the new backup file. When the Tools>View
Action Log menu command is invoked,
the two files are merged together before displaying the action log.
Note: because both the Default.log and _Default.log files may reach
the file size specified by this value, the amount of disk space used
can potentially be twice the value entered.
Clear Log
Choose this button to remove both Default.log and _Default.log files
and start a new log. These files may be copied or renamed before clicking
the Clear Log button for archiving purposes.
Tools>View
Action Log
This command will generate a log file displaying the time, message,
detail, and total users in HTML format.
This log is typically used to track all the changes that were made to
the administrator program. This log also tracks when a session is acquired
or released.
Tools>View Session Usage
This command will generate an HTML log file that displays session usage
information in one of the following formats, depending on the license
type (Per-Seat or Concurrent).
Per-Seat
Lists the machine name and IP address of each user that has downloaded
the PASSPORT WEB TO HOST ActiveX control. Each user listed uses one
license. Also shows the date and time of each user's most recent connection
to the WEB TO HOST Server.
Concurrent
Logs an hourly snapshot of the minimum and maximum usage. This is useful
in determining peak hours of operation and will help administrators
determine when to purchase additional licenses.
Tools>View
Session List
This command will generate a list of all display or printer sessions with
their assigned attributes and keyboard profiles in HTML format. This menu
command is unavailable and grayed out if Sessions
is not highlighted in the navigation
pane on the left side of the administrator. Sessions
can be highlighted under 3270 Display,
5250 Display, VT Display, Wyse Display, 3270 Printer or 5250 Printer.
Tools>View User/Group List
This command will generate an HTML list of all Users, Groups, and all the
sessions assigned to them.
Tools>Regenerate
All
This command generates HTML files called Eclientsessionlist.htm for each
emulation type. This HTML file lists all defined Session
profiles, along with a description and name of any Keyboard
or Attribute profiles that
are associated with the Session
profile. These files may be viewed by choosing the Tools>View
Session List menu command.
