Launching via a Command Line

The PASSPORT Web to Host client can launched through most major browsers (e.g., Internet Explorer, Chrome and Firefox) in Windows as well as via a command line URL.

  1. Internet Explorer with ActiveX download/auto update or Client Install

By default PASSPORT  will run embedded inside Internet Explorer.  However simple change in the registry of client PC can force PASSPORT sessions to be launched outside of Internet Explorer and thus run stand alone.  Add a new DWORD value called BrowserFlags under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\PASSPORT.Document and set the value to 08.  Setting it to 00 (or deleting this value) causes PASSPORT to run embedded inside Internet Explorer.

Note: Starting with version 21.1.2, this Registry setting can be changed by the end user by simply selecting the Run Embedded menu option after the client session has been launched via Internet Explorer.  See the "Run Embedded" topic in the PASSPORT User's Guide under Menu Commands > View for more details.

  2. Chrome or Firefox with Client Install
You must install PASSPORT Web to Host client through Client Install on the client PC first.   For Chrome, the first time Ecomes.zwh will be downloaded and show at the bottom of Chrome, then select "Always open files of this type".  On subsequent launches, PASSPORT Web to Host will be launched straight out of Chrome.  For Firefox, the first time a dialog titled with "Opening Ecomes.zwh" will pop up.  Select Open with "PASSPORT Web to Host" and check "Do this automatically for files like this from now on".  On subsequent launches, PASSPORT Web to Host will be launched straight out of Firefox.
  3. Through a command line URL
You must install Passport Web to Host client through Client Install on the client PC first.  For example create a desktop shortcut like this:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\PASSPORT WEB TO HOST Client\passport.exe" http://10.17.4.150/pec/Ecomes.zwh?sessionprofile=3270dsp/Sessions/rs73
